You will find information below regarding nominating/applying to NAP's three categories of membership:

Fellow & Professional Member Nomination Form
NAP Headquarters will contact your nominee within 7-10 business days. You will need to login to your NAP member account in order to submit your nomination. Please contact us if you need assistance in resetting your password.

Fellow & Professional Member Application Fee
In order to receive the link to the online application, you must first pay the application fee. You will need to set up an account in our system by completing the New Visitor Registration in order to purchase the application fee.

Distinguished Fellow

Distinguished Fellows shall require nomination by colleague; application, review and recommendation by the Academy of their profession; and a majority vote of the members of the NAP Council. Nominees shall be US citizens who have an exemplary career of ten years or more, and are committed to interprofessional practice and accessible, affordable healthcare for all. Applicants are judged by distinguished peers to have made significant and enduring contributions in their profession. Election as a Distinguished Fellow shall be for life, upon annual payment of membership dues.

Per NAP bylaws, those who qualify to be Fellows but are not US citizens, may be inducted as Affiliate Members. Affiliate Members are entitled to all privileges of membership except voting and holding office.

Distinguished Practitioner and Fellow, FNAP

Individuals who have spent a significant portion (10 years or more) of their professional career in the practice and direct delivery of health care services. They are judged by distinguished peers to have made enduring contributions in their profession.

 
Distinguished Scholar and Fellow, FNAP

Individuals with academic achievements such as significant and enduring educational and/or research contribution to practice. They are judged by distinguished peers to have made significant and enduring contributions in their profession.


Distinguished Public Policy Fellow, FNAP

Individuals who have made a significant and enduring public policy contribution to healthcare practice. They are judged by distinguished peers to have made significant contributions to interprofessional healthcare.

Distinguished Fellow Annual Dues $275, in addition to academy dues.

Nominate a Colleague for NAP Distinguished Fellowship

To nominate a distinguished professional to one of the academies, you must be an active NAP Fellow. Nominees should be individuals who are committed to 1) interprofessional practice and 2) accessible, affordable healthcare for all. Fellow nominees must also be US citizens. Per NAP bylaws, those who qualify to be Fellows but are not US citizens, may be inducted as Affiliate Members. Affiliate Members are entitled to all privileges of membership except voting and holding office. The same nomination process applies.

Nominations for the Class of 2022 is open until July 1. You will need to know the following information about your nominee:

  • Full Name
  • Organization or Practice Name, if applicable
  • The appropriate Academy to which they should apply
  • Email Address
  • Phone Number

After completing the nomination process you will receive a confirmation email. Your nominee will also be contacted within 7-10 business days, inviting them to pay the $100 application fee and complete their application for Distinguished Fellowship.

We encourage you to reach out to your nominee and assist them with the application process. Please encourage them to prepare their application for review and ensure they provide information regarding their interprofessional contributions.  Their CV should demonstrate these elements as appropriate

As a courtesy, please notify the leadership of the academy, if you nominated someone to a different academy that is not your own.

Unless the nominee opts-out, in the circumstance that the applicant does not meet the qualifications for Fellow, the applicant will be considered for Professional Membership.

 

Apply to Become a Distinguished Fellow

In order to apply for membership in NAP, you must first have an online account. You may already have an online account if you have attended a NAP event in the past year, or you have previously applied for membership. If you do not have a user account, please go to New Visitor Registration, create an account, and then proceed to the appropriate application fee payment.

To submit an application to become a NAP Distinguished Fellow, you must first be nominated. You will be asked to pay the $100 application fee. Upon payment, you will be sent the link to the online application via email. Please have the following three documents prepared (in PDF or Word format) before beginning your application:

  • A 300-word statement of interest in NAP, describing how you feel membership in NAP may help advance your clinical practice effectiveness and/or professional goals, as well as how you feel you can contribute to NAP and its mission.
  • A 150-word professional biography
  • Your CV
    Please note: Your CV should demonstrate these elements as appropriate.

Unless you opt-out, in the circumstance that you are not extended Fellow status, your application will be considered for Professional Membership.

Professional Member

Healthcare professionals from one of NAP's academies who take interest in interdisciplinary healthcare issues and have 5 or more years of experience making contributions to their field may qualify for Professional Membership. Professional Member nominees must also be US citizens. Professional Membership requires nomination by self or colleague, then review and approval of the academy. 

Professional Member Annual Dues: $220, in addition to academy dues.

Nominate a Professional Member

Applicants for Professional Members must be US citizens.

Associate Member

Associate Members may be healthcare professionals from any field who take interest in interdisciplinary healthcare issues, and may also be an individual who:

  • does not meet the requirements to become a Distinguished Fellow or Professional Member
  • a current student
  • currently does not fit under the Academy system

If you support the tenets of interprofessional practice and NAP's mission, vision, and values, please consider joining NAP as an Associate Member. An application is not required, nor is US citizenship. Simply answer a few questions, pay your dues, and you can join today.

Associate Member Annual Dues: $140

Retired Member

NAP has a retired membership category with a decreased dues rate that you may qualify for if you are retired from practice in your profession and have paid membership dues for the past five years.  If you fit the retired membership criteria, please contact Trey Gifford at [email protected] or 859-514-9824 for more information.
