• NAP Submits Public Comment to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Proposed Rule OMB-2026-0034

  The OMB proposed rule would give political appointees the authority to block federally funded research on ideological grounds, prohibit entire categories of health services inquiry, defund the professional infrastructure that trains the next generation of researchers, and restrict how publicly funded science reaches the public it is meant to serve.

  NAP’s position is to respectfully urge the OMB to withdraw the proposed rule to preserve the integrity, independence, transparency, dissemination, and sustainability of the federal research enterprise.
