Award Nomination Criteria
Nicholas Andrew Cummings Award
This award is for a member of an NAP Academy who has demonstrated outstanding or extraordinary contributions to interprofessional health care. At least three of the following criteria must be evident. Specifically, the nominee must have:
1. Published, presented, and consulted on interdisciplinary topics.
2. Exerted national or global influence on interdisciplinary program/project development beyond their projects.
3. Participated in interdisciplinary activities over a period greater than five years.
4. Work cited in more than one interdisciplinary journal.
5. Provided leadership in the development of partnerships with disciplines in agencies, foundations and/or communities promoting interdisciplinary practice, education and research.
This award, created to honor Founder Nicholas A. Cummings, is funded through the generosity of two donors.
Senator Daniel K. Inouye Award
This award is for legislators and executives of governmental units to recognize them for making significant and enduring contributions to health in the public interest. There must be evidence that nominee meets the following criteria:
1. Significant and enduring contributions to state, national and/or international health care policies.
2. Demonstration of consistent attention to public health care concerns over a period greater than five years.
3. Health care positions are congruent with NAP mission and goals.
This award is made periodically.
Interdisciplinary Creativity in Practice & Education Award
This award is given annually to non-NAP individuals who have made enduring contributions to interdisciplinary practice and education.
Nominees must meet the following criteria:
1. Publications and presentations on interdisciplinary health care themes.
2. Experience in interdisciplinary health care activities.
3. Leadership qualities exhibited through interdisciplinary activities.
4. National and/or international influence of the nominee on interdisciplinary practice, education or research on public health care concerns.
Interdisciplinary Group Recognition Award
This award is for NAP or non-NAP groups. To qualify, the group must involve at least four of the disciplines represented in the NAP and meet at least three of the following criteria:
1. Demonstrated impact on care and fostering of interdisciplinary principles consistent with the NAP mission and goals.
2. Show evidence of having established, promoted or participated in partnerships across settings with teamwork across disciplines.
3. Developed, established, or participated in a creative and innovative model of interdisciplinary practice and education.
4. Documentation exists which provides evidence of the effectiveness of the interdisciplinary work or developed program or model.
5. Evidence exists of improved patient or community care resulting from the application of interdisciplinary activities.
This award was established by the NAP Council to recognize and encourage interdisciplinary team programs/projects/models which focus on the improvement of health care. This award is given periodically.
Application Process
Nominations for all awards should include a letter of nomination stating the reasons for submission, plus pertinent documentation in the form of a brief CV or resume which emphasizes interdisciplinary health care. It should not exceed 10 single pages or five back-to-back pages, including relevant publications. Letters of support may also be included. Only complete applications will be considered.

The Member Relations Committee of the NAP will recommend awardees to the NAP Council, and notice will be provided to winners in advance of the award ceremony during the NAP Forum and Banquet.
